K2 ROADMAP

Three entry points for different families

01

K2 Term 1 · September–January

Foundation and routine

Establish short, repeatable habits before interview pressure begins.

  • Chinese and English themed vocabulary: seasons, colours, weather, sport, transport, school objects and utensils.
  • Count forwards and backwards within 20, fill number gaps and add within 5.
  • Give a basic self-introduction; practise 3–4 picture memory, one-picture description and everyday manners.
02

K2 Term 2 · February–June

Application and mock practice

Turn familiar knowledge into complete answers, connected sentences and multi-step tasks.

  • Read and reorder short Chinese and English sentences; explain an answer rather than only naming it.
  • Extend number work to 50 and 100, odd/even numbers, addition within 10 and introductory two-digit addition; add logic and 3D tasks.
  • Build a full self-introduction and scenario answers; recall 5–8 items; progress from two-picture to four-picture stories and create an ending.
03

K2 Summer Intensive · Start from May planning; focus through summer

Focused catch-up after admissions talks

For families who only realise the scope during school talks: diagnose first, then close the most important gaps without cramming a full year into every day.

  • Week 0: shortlist schools, record application/interview dates and complete a readiness check.
  • Weeks 1–2: essential vocabulary, number sense, self-introduction and current knowledge.
  • Weeks 3–4: memory, scenarios and one-to-four-picture speaking. Weeks 5–6: mixed mock practice, manners and Portfolio/application-letter checks.

K2 SUMMER INTENSIVE

A focused plan for families starting late

“Starting late” does not mean doing everything at once. Use the school shortlist to prioritise likely formats, keep practice short, and review the child’s response each week.

PORTFOLIO

Portfolio and application-letter timing

Check each DSS/private school’s current notice for page limits, binding, upload or physical submission, and whether materials are due before the first or second interview. Requirements vary by school and year.
